01-May-2005:
Instrument abbreviations have been standardized and (hopefully) applied consistently within the discographies. Some of the abbreviations are less-than-intuitive and/or confusing (e.g., "hmca" for harmonica, "hrm" for harmonium), but since multi-instrumentalism abounds, I think it's better to have abbreviations than the visual clutter of spelling out the full names of all instruments. (I'm not particularly happy with "sss" for sopranino sax, but I think it's less confusing than having "sno" or "spno" for sopranino and "ss" for soprano.)
As always, I'm open to suggestions.Lots of interesting new items in the discographies. Notable additions to the Link Library include very interesting audio of a 1985 Braxton discussion/lecture, and the transcript of Anthony Braxton in conversation with Volkan Terzioglu & Sabri Erdem [thanks to Volkan for letting me put this online].

(Thanks, Francesco!) There's still work to be done on the composition graphic titles and cross-indexing, but the basic info is all there. PS: Everyone should buy Martinelli's discography - it has a lot to offer beyond the details, including interesting information, excerpts from record reviews, and great photos.

NEWS - WELCOME to the new home for "Restructures: Creative Music Forum" - an online resource for information and discussion about creative music.
Besides the new, easy-to-remember domain (restructures.net), I have added what will hopefully be the focus point of this site - a discussion forum. By making information about this music more readily available to those who seek it and by engaging in meaningful discussions, we can all broaden and deepen our understanding about music and the associated issues and concerns.
In addition to the discussion forum, Restructures will maintain an extensive link library as well as develop some proprietary information - the Anthony Braxton discography is one example, but articles, interviews and reviews will be added in time.
Anyone and everyone with an interest in creative music is encouraged to join this community - not just listeners and fans, but concert and record producers, venue owners, journalists, and, yes, even musicians themselves.
So get up, get into it, get involved.
