Imagine an eye unruled by man-made laws of perspective, an eye unprejudiced by compositional logic, an eye which does not respond to the name of everything but which must know each object encountered in life through an adventure of perception.

Just Foreign Policy Iraqi Death Estimator

"It's not that we worry about small crimes rather than big ones, it's that attention is focused on anything that's done against us. What we do to others just doesn't matter."  "Recall the convention:  It's only terrorism if they do it to us. When we do much worse to them, it's not terrorism." --Noam Chomsky  more; more; more

"In the last analysis, terrorism is an idea generated by capitalism to justify
better defense measures to safeguard capitalism."
--Rainer Werner Fassbinder

"IF YOU'RE NOT DEAD, THEN SHUT UP":
In mainstream corporate media coverage of the debate among U.S. politicians, the U.S. military, and other U.S. "experts" regarding the situation in Iraq, it is unsurprising to find little-to-no discussion of what Iraqis want.

"What matters is what Iraqis think. Or rather, that is what should matter, and we learn a lot about the character and moral level of the reigning intellectual culture from the fact that the question of what the victims want barely even arises."
"Aggressors simply have no rights to make any decisions. They have responsibilities. The responsibilities are, first of all, to pay enormous reparations... [which] hold those responsible accountable and attend to the will of the victims. ... And the will of the victims is known. There are regular US-run polls in Iraq, government and polling institutions. It's just an overwhelming support for either immediate or quick withdrawal of US troops. About 80% think that the presence of US troops increases the level of violence. Over 60% think that the troops are legitimate targets. This, incidentally, is all of Iraq. If you take the figures for Arab Iraq, where the troops are actually deployed, it's considerably higher."
